If you know me very well, you know I love talking in temperaments. It is like being bilingual. I speak five languages fluently: English, Red, Yellow, Blue and Green.
Now that I think about it, maybe that makes me quin-lingual.
Anyway, over dinner last night, I was deep in conversation. At the heart-stopping climax of my story, my husband interrupted.
“Does your Blue/Red friend have a name?”
“Of course she has a name,” I said, “but that’s not the point! The point is a Blue/Red is the only one who would react like that to what happened at lunch.”
You see, today at lunch, there was some drama at the restaurant. My Blue/Red friend responded, in a split second, to help. Another friend (Green) wasn’t looking. Even another friend (Yellow) was more interested in the fabulous earrings on our waitress and missed the whole thing entirely. (Okay, that was me.)
Incidentally, on the positive side, this way of communicating completely does away with gossip. No one ever has any idea whom I’m talking about.
I am Yellow/Red. Of the four temperaments, I operate in my God-given two dominant temperaments. I am first Yellow–a friendly, passionate, life-loving sort of person. Nevertheless, a close second, which I parent and teach in, is red –very focused, driven and RIGHT sort of person.
Have you ever wondered how you can instantly “click” with a total stranger and yet struggle for years to get along with a family member?
Do you have an easier time parenting or grand-parenting one child over another?
It is all about temperaments.
My friend, Vicki Barnes, author of The Real You, says, “The Bible tells us to love one another as God has loved us. Understanding personality types is a key action step toward loving others.”

Dr. Taylor Hartman (The Color Code) says, “It is predominantly character, not personalities, that ultimately determines the quality of our lives.”
I completely agree. Speaking in temperaments BRIGHTENS the quality of life enormously and gives insight that will absolutely astound you.
Question: What color are you? Please share … I love reading your comments!
