My House is All Dressed Up for Christmas

I’m a YELLOW who decorates our home every Christmas like it is the last hurrah in my life. This year, friends have been asking me to have an Open House so they can take a peek and share in all my fun.

Wait, let me think about it…okay, yes I’d love to!

But why limit it to just a few friends?  I want you to come, too! That’s why we’ve turned this into a Virtual Open House Tour—tomorrow, Dec. 21, 2014. Don’t worry. You won’t have to drive. You will get an email tomorrow morning along with the link you need to enjoy my Open House Tour, virtually—right from the comfort of your home or wherever you will be spending your day. And you can enjoy it anytime that is convenient for you.

First, a little history: As our kids were growing up, I knew I should do the usual parent thing by baking Christmas cookies with them. However, I wanted to do the unusual. So, I took each of our kids out of school separately every December.

Each child had one day to shop for the different family members and make cookies with mom all by themselves. They wrapped the gifts they chose and were done with their shopping before their Christmas vacation from school had begun.

Every year I decorated our main family Christmas tree differently! Thank goodness, it was in the budget to get new ornaments each year, for awhile. However, it certainly paid off.  Forty years later, I have every color and style of ornaments, Christmas lights and decorations to decorate the White House!

My Christmas tree themes have included: Red and Green Santa’s Workshop, Red and White Reindeers, Gold and Ivory Angels, Light Green Bows, Red and Green Christmas Stockings, Silver Bells, Red Poinsettias, Blue and White Icicles (left something to be desired as a Christmas ambiance), Dreaming of a White Christmas, Purple and Green Stars and Christmas Around the World, to name a few.

This year our tree theme is “Gifts of Gold,” with a nod to the wise men who brought gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh to the Messiah so long ago on the first Christmas.

That’s all I’m going to tell you for now. The rest? Tomorrow I will SHOW you.

I hope to see you then!
