How to Get Along With Anyone: Step 8

This is number eight in a series of ten posts How to Get Along With Anyone. Here are Steps 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 in case you missed them!

Put extra effort into understanding your friends, family and co-workers.

Every person is created, from birth, to be different from others.  Each has a pre-disposition called a temperament. No two people are the same, period.

Yes, I have written many posts on this fascinating topic. However, if you are truly interested in getting along with more people this year, it behooves you to learn about what makes others tick. It is a scientifically verified truth that there are FOUR different types of personalities. Every person is a combination of primarily two of the four.  First, learn which temperaments you are! Then figure out others.

For those of you who are new to the study of temperaments, I explain them in colors. You may want to refer back to my previous posts:

REDS Just Want to Help.

YELLOWS Just Want to Have Fun

BLUES Just Want to Think.

GREENS Just Want Peace and Quiet.

REDS are strong, focused people as they go through life. REDS are goal setters. REDS are driven, adventurous and always right. 🙂 My RED girlfriend simply writes down her goal; then, outlines each step she needs to take to accomplish it. She loves the process and adrenaline rush – knowing she is on task. REDS are the leaders and achievers in life.

YELLOWS love to have fun. YELLOWS are happy and enjoy doing most anything if it promises fun and excitement. Life involves lots of friends and social activities along side the humdrum of work. YELLOWS do not feel plans or schedules are necessary – managing, somehow, to surround themselves with those who help them accomplish their goals. YELLOWS are also leaders in social situations and feel an energized anticipation involving spontaneity.

BLUES plan for each day with the same seriousness as they plan everything. They think everything through, with detailed precision, although usually feeling more pressure – than enjoyment – in the process. My BLUE husband doesn’t believe in New Year’s Resolutions for example; because, as he quietly explains, “These are things that must be done in the New Year, anyway, so why give them a special title?” BLUES accomplish most of their plans, but are hardest on themselves when they fall short of their perfectionist mark.

GREENS are the nicest people in the world. GREENS do not really enjoy making decisions.  They prefer to live life with no drama. My GREEN granddaughter says, “Why put extra energy or stress on myself about what to wear? I prefer to be comfortable and enjoy a life of peace at all cost.” GREENS do not like to “make waves.” They are usually quiet in groups, but are easily able to converse one on one.

I know you can picture different people as you read these descriptions! Once you understand someone, it is so much easier to get along with them!

May I recommend subscribing (FREE) to my blog? (Look to the side of this post and see how easy it is.) Write your name and email address. I will send you two emails to confirm. After the 2nd email, you will receive my free eBook, on the four temperaments, and the temperament test.  These tools will help you discover which strengths and weaknesses most apply to you, your family and friends. This is a potential life changer!

This will DEFINITELY help you make progress toward your goal of getting along with more people this year!

I love the following scripture where God explains how we are born differently.

“Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out;
you formed me in my mother’s womb.
I thank you, High God—you’re breathtaking!
Body and soul, I am marvelously made!
I worship in adoration—what a creation!
You know me inside and out,
you know every bone in my body;
You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit,
how I was sculpted from nothing into something.
Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth;
all the stages of my life were spread out before you,
The days of my life all prepared
before I’d even lived one day.”

Psalm 139:13-16 (The Message)
